Dental Assessment

What is the purpose of a dental assessment, what does it entail, how much does it cost, and how long does it take, are among the most common discussions between patients and dental practices. Exams differ between practices and dentists.

Here is a brief description of what we do.

The moment you enter our office, you will be greeted by a Patient Care Specialist who will be your point of contact throughout your visit and will help to ensure the most enjoyable experience.

Complimentary Initial Consultation

Complimentary Initial Dental Consultation

Trust is essential to a successful dentist-patient relationship. After all, you are trusting us with one of your most intimate parts of your body. It’s important to us that you feel confident about selecting us as your dental practice. We want you to take the time you need to be comfortable with us first.

This initial consultation is a chance for you to meet our dentist, the dental team and for us to learn about you and your needs and establish if this is the right fit. In this visit, we can answer any questions that you have regarding oral health care in general. There is no fee for the initial consultation.

Comprehensive Oral Examination (COE)

A COE allows the dentist to properly assess and diagnose the entire scope of your oral health needs. Once we understand your unique situation, we work with you to determine a care and treatment plan that suits you.

Throughout the exam, we address your concerns and provide treatment options that are clear and easy to understand.

We recommend the COE as the first step for all new patients. This visit includes a panoramic x-ray, an intra-oral examination by the dentist, an oral cancer screening, and an oral probing by the hygienist. This comprehensive assessment allows the dental team to gain an excellent understanding of your current oral health condition and provides them with a strong foundation to discuss future treatment options with you.

Emergency Examination

Dental Emergency Examination

Emergencies happen, and our main goal is to get you out of pain and take care of infection if this is the cause of the problem. A caring and professional team is here for you if and when you ever require emergency treatment. The moment you enter our office, you will be greeted by a Patient Care Specialist who will be your point of contact throughout your visit and help ensure you feel as relaxed as possible. The dentist will examine you to address your emergency concern. Whether it's a cosmetic issue or you're suffering in pain, the dentist will diagnose your specific problem and provide you with the treatment options to address it.

The dentist will focus solely on the emergency concern; however, if you prefer a more thorough investigation, the dentist can perform a comprehensive oral examination (see above) to verify there are no additional or underlying concerns and survey the entire scope of your overall dental health. When the dentist has completed the emergency examination, you will be provided with treatment options, any possible risks, and an outline of fees. You will then be able to choose a solution that works the best for you. The dentist may also provide you with a prescription to alleviate the pain and discomfort if you require more time to decide or arrangements for the treatment you need.

Specific Examination

Sometimes you might have a specific area of concern, i.e. a particular tooth or discomfort. This exam is shorter in duration and provides a solution that targets that particular area that is a concern to you.

Our Digital Smile Designer is a last technology tool that will assist in the analysis of your facial and dental proportions, utilizing a predetermined series of high-quality digital photographs nd videos understanding the relationship between teeth, gums, lips, smile with the facial features in motion and with emotion.

Orthodontics Examination

The dentist begins the Orthodontic examination by listening to you, your concerns and expectation. There are many options available to treat crowded, spaced or rotated teeth. Once we address your concerns, the dental team will take extra- and intraoral pictures and the required X-rays following the Digital scanning with the iTero system to create 3D digital images of your mouth.

A facial profile assessment and occlusal analysis will help the dentist map out a precise treatment plan, including the exact movements of your teeth and an approximate time of treatment. When the dentist has completed the Orthodontic examination and treatment planning, you will be provided with different treatment options, any possible risks, and an outline of fees. You will then be able to choose a solution that works the best for you.

Continuing Care Examination (Recall Exam)

Continuing Care Examination

The recall exam (colloquially referred to as a “check-up”) is a vital dental health component. This is for our existing patients and usually occurs at the same time as a regularly scheduled cleaning. According to the patient's needs, the amount of time between recall exams will vary. For low-risk patients, nine months is appropriate, while for others whose treatment has been complex or moderate to high risk, we may need to see them more frequently at 3,4 or 6 months intervals. A full oral examination will be done, and the team will update the x-rays and the intraoral pictures to ensure that no problems have arisen since the last examination. In the end, a new treatment plan will be done depending on the assessment finding.

Teeth Whitening

Teeth whitening is a simple and effective procedure that lightens the shade of natural teeth at your own convenience. With the use of a custom-made whitening tray along with the latest whitening technology, the gel-based paste is applied in the tray and worn over your natural teeth. Upon consultation, our team will determine if this teeth whitening method is suitable to your needs. For best results, the whitening process is most effective on mildly discolored teeth. Longevity of the treatment will be determined from the level of discoloration.
